Herbal tea for our little ones

As parents we are always looking for ways to support our children's health and wellbeing, but it's not always easy to get those healthy alternatives into our little ones. Being a herbalist and health practitioner I am always experimenting with ways to get the good stuff into my children; super juices, homemade lollies, smoothies and herbal teas. It is not always a succesfull experiment and I often get a "Yuck!" and a screwed up face on tasting.

I have found that if I include my children in the activity of preparing these healthy alternatives for themselves then they are more inclined to give them a try. My children particularly enjoy helping me combine herbs together to create the flavours they like in a herbal drink. Their favourite ice cream flavour is mint choc chip and Restorative tea is a blend of peppermint, nettle and liquorice, a blend they are perfectly happy to drink if they can enjoy it with a little square of dark chocolate, replicating their favourite flavour combo, but in a healthy alternative. It was a hit! It has now become a family ritual: we sit down together and enjoy a restorative cuppa and a square of dark chocolate. Yummy! Since then my kids have become my chief tasters and flavour blenders and often come up with some great tea flavour ideas.

I want my teas to be enjoyed by children as well as adults. Herbal teas can be an ideal way to support them and their delicate systems, naturally working in harmony with them, and better for their teeth than juices and squash. Caffeine-free and packed full of vitamins, and phyto nutrients. Herbal teas can be enjoyed warm or cold.
