Aromatherapy is the practice of using the natural oils extracted from flowers, bark, stems, leaves, roots or other parts of a plant to enhance psychological, emotional, spiritual and physical well-being. The oils are carefully blended to suit each individual concentrating on personal requirements. Combining essential oils with massage help to support us back to a place of wholeness where we begin to feel restored, balanced, grounded and relaxed.
The inhaled aroma from these "essential" oils is widely believed to stimulate brain function. Essential oils can also be absorbed through the skin, where they travel through the bloodstream and can promote whole-body healing. A form of alternative medicine, Aromatherapy is gaining momentum. It is used for a variety of applications, including pain relief, mood enhancement and increased cognitive function.
There are a wide number of essential oils used, each with its own healing properties
What to expect during your treatment time.
Before you arrive for your treatment I ask that you turn off your mobile phone to allow total peace and space just for you. The moment you step through the door is ‘YOUR’ time - time for you to rest and restore and nothing else matters.
I welcome you with a cup of my organic herbal tea whilst we sit together to complete your consultation, this provides me with a deeper understanding of your health and wellbeing and what you would like to achieve and experience from your treatment. We then go on to the all important ‘smell test’ to allow your body to choose the essential oils that are right for you at this time.
I ask that you come without wearing perfume or make-up as these products interfere with the delicate scents and absorbtion of the oils.
Once we have completed the consultation and you are snuggled comfortably on the bed, then we begin with a gentle breathing exercise and guided meditation to help you to connect to yourself, let go and relax!
For ultimate restoration I recommend an hour and a half, which includes full body, face and head . Please allow 1hr 45- 2hrs for this treatment from start to finish. You will recieve 1 hr 30 mins hands on time and then you have space either side of your treatment to allow for consultation, dressing and of course a little more resting at the end of your treatment allowIing you space to come back from wherever you drifted off to during your treatment!
If you would prefer an hour’s treatment then I recommend focusing on areas of tension. You will recieve 1 hr of hands on time but please do allow a further fifteen to thirty minutes as noted above. Or if you would just like a thirty minute treatment this can be focused either on back, neck and shoulders or face, head, neck, shoulders and arms which we can ascertain on the day, again please allow an extra 15-30 mins.
Each treatment is tailored to your individual needs on the day so please do let me know how you are feeling. Essential oils can be powerfully supportive and the benefits continue well after your treatment ends.
I always use organic cold pressed oils, mostly coconut, calendula and sunflower as a base for your chosen essential oil blend or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding then a hand prepared herbal infused oil, or any of the above base oils. Essential oils are again organic and from sustainable crops. If you would like to purchase oils to use at home then please do go for high quality pure essential oils from a reputable supplier. Kobashi are my chosen oil supplier www.kobashi.co.uk
